Richard Smith joined Chiesi USA as Vice President & Business Unit Leader – US AIR in 2024. Mr. Smith brings more than 25 years of extensive commercial experience, having held leadership roles in both start-ups and established companies. He is a strong advocate for patient-centered commercialization, aligning closely with Chiesi's mission to enhance patient outcomes. Mr. Smith is committed to achieving results in collaboration with cross-functional teams, positioning the AIR franchise as a guide, the respiratory community as key partners, and patients as the central priority. His career spans numerous general management and franchise head roles across various therapeutic areas, including extensive experience in sales, marketing, market access, and commercial operations. Before joining Chiesi, Mr. Smith was at LEO Pharma, where he was part of the leadership team that transformed LEO Pharma's US model to deliver exceptional financial performance.
Mr. Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Carson-Newman University
